The Best Foundation to Becoming Legendary: Family

Family. They’re anger, love, sadness, happiness, ugliness, and beauty all wrapped up in a one of a kind package. I love my family. If there were a word beyond love that would describe what I feel for my blood; That would be the word I would use.

My auntie passed away September 14th of this year. Today my mother and I drove from Tuscaloosa, AL to Atlanta, GA to attend a memorial service being held by a volunteer of Sacred Journey Hospice who goes by the name of Jowanna Daley. (Check out her blog here) Mrs. Daley has no blood relation to my auntie however she’s done so much for her that she is considered family, at least in my eyes.

I use her as an example for people who may or may not have a strong relationship with their actual family, that close people you do have in your life can be considered family as well. Family is everything. We sometimes forget that family is there to make us stronger. With everything going on in our lives and society pushing everyone to be completely “independent” we forget that we have family to help us through dark times. Our family are the ones that we can always depend on.

I’m extremely grateful for what Mrs. Daley has done for my auntie. It means a lot to me that someone who has only known my auntie for a short time is willing to go above and beyond for her. Her actions show us that we can find family members in any and everyone we come across in our lives. So, because of that I will forever cherish her as a member of my family.

We will have downs and we will have ups. We will have failures and we will definitely have successes. As long as we have family, we will always have that strong foundation that we can build upon to our own greatness.
