Fulfilling Your Prophecy and Keeping Your Word

We all have our own prophecies. We all make promises. When we look around at the successful people in our lives, there are two underlying attributes that they all possess: they fulfill their prophecies and they keep their promises. No matter how long it takes or how many obstacles present themselves, they possess those attributes. The most recent display of this is when LeBron James won a championship in Cleveland. Despite everything that occurred in his career so far he was able to accomplish the very things that he prophesied and promised to Cleveland.

We don’t have to be a superstar or a famous person to do the same. Any and everyone can accomplish the things that they predict and/or give their word to. Unfortunately, most of us tend to give up or lose interest when things become difficult or when our future begins to blur. One thing that can help someone get through the tough times to accomplish the things they set out to accomplish, like LeBron, is to always stay focused on what they promised/predicted. Even though LeBron James was busy winning championships in Miami, if we paid close attention to what he said throughout those years we would be aware that the promise he made to Cleveland was always on his mind.

That is what we must do to accomplish our goals, no matter how big or small they are. A personal example: I promised my grandpa and my late aunt that they would be able to watch me walk across the stage when I graduate from undergraduate and law school, due to them not being able to when I graduated from high school. That is a promise that I have been upholding for 3 years now and on December 10th, 2016 I will have accomplished half of my promise. However, I am determined to keep all my promise and to fulfill all of the other prophecies I have created for myself. (I tend to only tell my self-created prophecies to my close loved ones; I try and keep my “master” plans as secret as possible) I do this because my word is everything.

However, we live in a society now where there isn’t much incentive to keep your word or fulfill your prophecies. Nowadays we have to have people sign contracts to actually get them to keep their word. I remember watching a video (WATCH THIS) where the man speaking (Eric Thomas, subscribe to him and like/share his videos!) said that there was a time when your word and a handshake was the “contract”. We are far from that type of mindset today but I know that those that are reading this can help make keeping your word a commonplace thing again.
